suplays!

last night's surprise was so appropriate to yesterday's entry. aliw. :)

erik and fr. mimo actually spilled it to me thinking i got it already.

during birthday phone calls they both asked, "kamusta ang surprise ni jan?"
to which i replied, "surprise? wala. di marunong mag-surprise yun. something i'd have to live with."

wherein erik tries to save himself by going "but he emailed me."
i go, "he has your e-mail?"
and he goes, "ah, wala. wala."
and then goes off telling me that jan should raise his rates especially with corporate clients. yada-yada-yada. then asks me what jan's gift was ba. i told him what he gave me which i received a month ago so he wouldn't be getting me anything anymore. yada-yada-yada.

other people would start being suspicious, but i wasn't. because jan has leveled off that he doesn't believe in surprises much. and knowing how busy he was the past month, i didn't think he could have had the time.

when fr. mimo called me the next day, he also slipped. "so natanggap mo na yung surprise ng labidoods mo?"
and i go, "huh? wala. di marunong mag-surprise yun."
mimo goes, "oh no. may pinadala ako sa e-mail. antayin mo na lang, meron yan."
and i go, "huh?" and while he was saying "may pinaghandaan iyong labidoods mo..." i was thinking, "sino ba ang iniisip nitong labidoods ko? tama ba ang time warp ni mimo?"
and we proceeded on to another topic. after which i shrugged it off.

finally, around 730, i met with jan at netopia. he's been editing an email to someone for hours, so i helped him out. while saving his first draft, i saw an email to erik with the subject "need help with..." i didn't see the rest. me thoughts twas something with his mead-johnson racket.
we continued to edit the email. when he saved the draft again, that was when i saw the full subject, "need help with surprise for angie."
giggling, i pointed the email to him. it was funny that with all the slip-ups, it was only that time i realized there was really a surprise.
he plead guilty. i was already happy at the thought he was trying to orchestrate something for me even if i still had no idea what the surprise was because it still wasn't there.

when we finally went to my house, during dinner he asked if i wanted the surprise that night which i affirmed so he asked me to not look at the computer (he was renting our computer for some jobs he weren't able to finish) while he was doing it. and because i wanted to surprise, i let the cat kill curiosity and tried to read the JSA comic book he lent me.

some few minutes later, ta-daaaa! there's my artistically-crafted greeting card with messages from friends far and away.

hey jan. sensya at di ako naninwala sa mga tao hanggat hindi nanggaling sa iyo. hahaha! and thank you, thank you, thank you for the sweet gesture. :)

to all those who participated in the conspiracy, with special mention rowie and kang (as you were my only friends whose e-mail addies he had)... salamat din.
