after the slightly heavy previous entry, i'll try to be a little more positive in this one.
yesterday, we had an exposure trip for our teachers in St. Peter, Bukidnon. we chose the schools there because the NGO was able to succesfully coordinate with the barangay and organize the parents. they were also able to indigenize their curriculum, using higaonon as medium of instruction and for their visual aids (ex: E is for ekang which is higaonon for owl).
maya and i were relatively relaxed since it was the NGO who took charge from the hiring of the buses to the coordination with the people in the community. all we did was enjoy the ride with the participants.
having been tired (as i stated in the previous entry), i was asleep the entire trip but did have the chance to see the inner sanctum of bukidnon for a bit. bukidnon glittered gold and green, especially with the sun shining on the glistening wetness of the land after the rain.
maya had an amusing story about the badjaos in the group. danny and nur, who are used to the ocean, felt much excitement and thrill with going up the mountain. danny quiped with a smile on his face, "kinakabahan na ako, kasi pataas na tayo ng pataas." and when we passed through the cloud, he extended his hand and tried to find out how it felt.
it was nice to have given people the chance to experience something new.
more heartwarming and inspiring things happened yesterday, pero i really really need to go back to the training already. hopefully, i can give the continuation.
for now, i can say... thank god i was able to have siesta today (and thus, i can be a little more positive with my entry!) :)
