do i make you proud?

sang taylor hicks for his americal idol piece during the mcphee-hicks showdown.

anyways, i have been almost-sick since sunday. almost because i'm not bed-ridden. but sick because my throat is scratchy and my nose stuffy that i'd rather be in bed. i teeter-totter between feeling weak (when in the office) and okay (when playing frisbee). but all the time my eyes are heavy and my breath warmer than usual.

what has that got to do with the song? well, staying in bed or sitting inside a car while watching a spectacular view (tuesday - going down from kulaman after a field visit), gives you a lot of time to think.

one of the things i thought of... most people often put down themselves by thinking of what they have done or what they have failed to do (hmm, parang misa. hehe!) with their lives. myself, included. more often than not, we recognize our failures but deny our achievements.

so play time!

this is inspired by my sunshine-y friend toni's games with her readers. not that i have many. hehehe! but i'd like to give it a try.

so tag, you're it!

in the comments box, give me a hi then list down at least five things you are proud of in your life. it doesn't have to be grand. maybe you can cook the meanest putanesca sauce or you can twist your tongue in a certain shape. anything! hopefully, that will fill you some nice thoughts and great memories to reminisce on for the day.

lemme start the ball rolling.

things i'm proud of:
1. passing the ateneo de manila entrance exam. after the exam, i said to myself, "shet! pag pumasa ako sa eskwelahan na to, dito ako mag-aaral." because i really thought i wouldn't make it. when i got the results, lo and behold, freshman merit scholar! (which just means i automatically pass one english subject)

2. serving as Jesuit Volunteer for two years after graduation. an entire lifetime of experience of unconditional love, undying devotion and an unending God quest.

3. giving the name TRIP to the merged jvp publication while i was working there. at first our ED was hesitant because people might associate it with drugs. and i was like, "huh, di ko naisip yun?" it got approved anyway. heheh!

4. winning the best creative team in a workshop against other junior creatives from other ad agencies. i was only working for a small company, but my partner and i beat those from bigger ad companies. i'm prouder still that i beat my classmate who i looked up to in college, and now, he's one of the most sought after creative directors in the industry. at, at, at... one of my former colleagues said that even after two years that i left advertising, some people were still asking about me. that's a pat on the back.

5. conversing with a rock celebrity, and he initiated it. ganda ng lola mo ang feeling. hahaha! it's a "one-night stand" (standing up chatting the entire night, anuvah) and i knew that it wasn't going to go beyond that, but it was still fun. he even asked if we can have our picture taken (pang-collection kaya?). o divah? even if i don't think i'm pretty or anything, i can still catch the attention of someone popular. may witnesses ako diyan! hahaha!

cool. that was fun.

so i hope you join in. tag, tag, tag! ikaw ang taya. hirit na!

tris: thanks!

inggit nga ako sa continent hopping mo, eh. and yes, getting over a heartbreak is something to be proud about because it's never easy.

toni:
add to the things you should be proud of is keeping a bright perspective of things most of the time. something i've always admired about you.

hurrah for us all! :)
