two quickies

KALINDOGAN 2006

I've done and/or been to so many trainings for the last five years of my life. Most of the time, I go home disappointed listening to various NGOs grandstand their causes, throw academic facts left and right, yet you can smell ulterior motives underneath everything. Listening to those young participants in Kalindogan was a different story.

The kids shared their talents, their ideas, their hopes for their culture and their tribes. Untainted and pure. Which gives me a lot of hope. If many of the 300 were willing to work for their tribe, then all is not lost for the IPs. I pray they do bring home what they learned to their communities.

Ang masaya pa dun, we get to dance almost every night. At bagamat mahal ko ang reggae, it is really ethnic dances that I have always enjoyed losing myself to.

Marami pang kuwento pero sa susunod na kabanata na iyon. Sana maikuwento ko si datu sa susunod.

Last song syndrome for the week:
Sama-sama (kalindogan theme song)
Peace Tech Theme
at Idana (a higaonon song)

IDANA

idana, idana (4x)

ayaw mo kaolaw (don't be embarassed)
na kamo nagasayaw (that you are dancing)
sayaw ta inyo tribo (the dance of your tribe)
idana, idana (8x)

maopya (8x) (beautiful)
maopya napag sayaw (it is beautiful to dance)
dini kalindogan (here in kalindogan)

idana (8x)

ERAGON
i have been wanting to buy eragon since last year. if mayette tends to get captivated by butterflies on book covers, i get caught by dragons. though i don't buy every book with a dragon on it. damn, i'd be awfully penniless by the end of the year. anne macafrey's stories alone would drain my wallet. (though i've only read some of her titles through my bro's collection) and eragon had this blue dragon on the cover.

anway, but i always wait for sales so i can get books for a lesser price. when the time came that i was ready to buy, i found out that eragon was a trilogy. the second book, eldest, was already out. which stopped me from purchasing. why? basically, i'm trying to avoid starting on series titles. ewan lang. maybe because it forces me to buy three books agad. ewan.

but then sometime middle of this year, i found out that they are making eragon into a movie. which made me panic. i had to buy the book before it becomes too popular once the movie is out. unfortunately, the national bookstores here in davao did not carry the title during the sale.

as december drew nearer and nearer, i resolved to get the book once i go to manila even if it isn't on sale. whadayaknow! when i was in cagayan, the national bookstore there carried the title! and better yet, the juvenile and children's books were on sale! so i got eragon and two other titles. and went home poorer but happy.

right now, i'm halfway through the book spending most of my yesterday reading it. and boy, boy, boy! am i excited. it's such a page turner. and having viewed the trailer already, thanks to mayette, it gives me great pleasure to know that jeremy irons as brom the storyteller will be getting a lot of airtime. i haven't come across galbatorix yet except through brom and eragon's conversations, but i'm sure that john malkovich will be making his presence much felt even if he has less minutes in the movie.

EXCITED NA! i hope i finish the book soonest! sobra siyang page turner.
