P530.00 (sulit naman. suporta sa sariling atin!)

some quick notes.
mythology class is a comic book written and illustrated by arnold arre who also wrote after eden (na nawawala ang kopya ko!). his style is somewhat reminiscent of old 'lovelife' comics. curvy and rounded. kahit may details, it's still light on the eyes. his stories often have a touch of the fantastic.

after eden has cupids and angels, as it is a love story. what made me buy the comic was the male protagonist had a comic book shop and mentions "death: a high cost of living" in one of the panels. the female protagonist naman works in advertising. so i can pretty much relate to what she has to say. but it doesn't matter if you like gaiman or not, or if you were from advertising. after eden is a love story. sometimes cheesy, other times, cute. it's light reading and it's fun. so it was worth the almost P300 i shelled out.

mythology class, on the other hand, has its share of love stories too. i think that arre is really a romantic at heart, sprinkling the story with the usual sexual tension, a quiet love triangle, and a quest borne out of love. but that isn't the main point. it's about local Filipino folklore tied up with the modern world of computers and gadgets with whip-ass fight scenes. and again, it's funny.

One of my favorite graphic novels of all time. I actually bought one of the copies from the Fully Booked at Rockwell; it was the only place at the time that was selling it. :)
