it's the pale moon that excites me...

during her times of plentitude, dove has always been generous enough to share it with me by treating me out with country waffles dinners and hotel-intercon margaritas among other things.

when i found out jvp was conducting interviews with the applicants here in davao, i invited her over to sleep at my house for the duration of my stay. an invitation she gladly accepted (so as to avoid stinky bathrooms for P300.00 inns).

last night, i wanted to return the favor for all those times we spent chatting over ridiculously expensive waffles. so i took her jack's ridge. no pancakes there, but knowing it was two days after the fool moon it would be perfect to watch the moon rise over the city and the sea.

as i left tatit to do her grocery at nccc to meet with dove at taklobo, it started to drizzle. so much for the moon rise i was longing for. we'll just have to content ourselves with stuffing ourselves with seafood and chatting from the serious to the mundane.

not that the view was bad. the city still shone with its many lights. jack's ridge IS the antipolo of davao. while we were eating and conversing, dove said she was really falling in love with davao especially after finding out that samal island was so near that you could just spend an entire saturday swimming and lounging around (something i haven't done in a long time, blech).

halfway through our meal, still no sign of a good view of the moon but you could see from the clouds that has been up the sky for quite a while.

at one point, i was listening to dove talking when i noticed a bright expanse of light on the ground. when she paused, i asked her, "yung dagat ba iyon?"

and with her usual semi-hysteria, "oo nga!"

there it was! what a few minutes ago was a empty darkness in the middle of light, was an ocean of light. the sea was reflecting the moon that still lay hidden behind the clouds. like a dark opal mirror shining. beautiful. beautiful. i couldn't stop looking at it.

those are nights (or days) that make me feel glad to be in davao. a beautiful quiet night with good dinner and good conversation.

(as for tonight, i'm gate crashing with the tatit. the kaladkarin has kaladkaded me!)
