look! i can cook! (and eat and eat and eat)

(posting these pics were such an ordeal. for some reason, the computer kept posting the wrong ones. will fix it up later. i'm just too excited to post to care about the terrible lay-out)

And so, birthday weekend was fun. :) Despite not getting my salary because they deposited it in the wrong account. Good thing, I have my trusty wicker wallet to finance my small get-together.

My mom and I decided to celebrate with other people on Sunday, the day before my birthday, the feast day of St. Ignatius and the birthday of Harry Potter. The moment I woke up, I got to work cooking. Had the chicken and liempo marinated the night before, so it was all ready for turbo broiling.

Just realized I am an expert of cooking dry foods, thanks to the turbo. Birthday lunch was rosemary chicken, liempo and inihaw na bangus (also turbo broiled because we had no time to grill anymore). I also cooked some buttered vegetables and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were fun because it was purely experimental. Loved it!

I also sliced mangoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, turnips and carrots for the appetizer. Prepared a dip using mayonnaise, tomato paste, seasoning salt, parsley flakes and pepper. Not bad either.

My friends did say the food was good. It could be because it was my birthday so I deserved some encouragement or maybe it was really good. The important thing, people stayed alive after eating the meal I prepared. Heheh!

After having lunch, friends continued to flock in from merienda time to dinner. Many of my Davao friends love to jam, so they also brought two guitars and a kahon. It was the first time my house ever experienced wonderful ruckus as this. :)

On the day of my birthday, I just bought food from the store across our office. It was basically the same food as what I cooked for my birthday. I think my liempo tasted better and had more lean meat. Still, we had a great time especially since Ninin "dropped" by. Giovanni also contributed the super mocha ice cream.

And here is the picture of the office gang. It was my mom who ordered the cake, so it could be the first time in history that a birthday celebrant brings his own cake marked with Happy Birthday.

All in all, it was a great birthday weekend. My mom and I topped it with a movie (unfortunately, it was D'Anothers) and a dinner at Bigby's in SM Davao. Too bad Willy Wonka won't be coming this weekend to Davao. *sniff*

uh, the beach gimik didn't push through coz it was raining.

toni: we really should do a cook-out one of these days (december perhaps). time to move on from roasted hotdogs to more complex recipies. hehehe!
