harry potter and the deathly hallows
i haven't had my cry, but i almost did. like any epic battle, there are always casualties of war. my heart broke many times over reading the book. some of my favorites are gone, most dying valiantly fighting to rid the world of darkness, believing that apathy to the evil in the world will end up with nothing good. (and here i think of our own lord voldemort who's 4'11"... but nah... she's more of a dolores umbridge whose sense of right is twisted and malicious).
many have said, to which i concur, that deathy hallows was a fitting end to the series. (and please those clamoring for more, let it go. it wouldn't be the same really). my disappointment for book five for its seemingly uninspired writing and the irritation for book six of not answering questions and leaving more has been saved by book seven.
i can't wait to read from one to seven when everything becomes a cohesive whole finally. one of the things i have always enjoyed with harry potter is the seemingly small details in previous books turn out to be major players in the next ones.
and in the end, good triumphs over evil. (this is obviously not a spoiler as it would have been ridiculous to think that voldemort would be ruling the wizarding and muggle world. shame on you if you did!)
go ateneo! one big fight
i missed the clash of the titans because i had to go up the mountains to visit some schools we were taking care of. though i am surpsingly not so crestfallen about not seeing it, it was still 'sayang' not to have seen this duel.
i was honestly a little scared. especially with la salle's loss to UE. they would be angry and hungry. but ah... good news on tv patrol when i found out that we won. overtime. it meant a good, heart-stopping game that had nervous fans on either side of the fence willing their teams to win the fight. i can imagine how sweet our victory was!
i love you ateneo!!! i love you team... yes, including you arao. but i just love the others more. hehe! go ateneo!!!
it is one game. just one tick on the score card. but a tick we all relish with gusto. ;p
makulay ang buhay... at gulay...
and yes, i just came down the boondocks of malabog district. it was a challenging meeting with the parents because we bore not so good news. it wasn't exactly bad as they were aware of what we had to say, but the options meant hard work and commitment. something that i have been looking for in the communities we support. but it was only there when something was to be given ang return.
anyway... whenever i go home from this place... i always have kilos and kilos of vegetables and root crops with me. no hyperboles... i brought home a sack full!
most of the time i dont want to take it because they could use it to feed themselves. however... it would be an insult not to do so. and in my heart, a deepfelt gratitude for these people who in their heart as well say thanks to what we have given.
now... the real gratitude i am asking for is their commitment. fingers crossed.
